Facial Rejuvenation

Consultations offered at our two convenient locations in Manhattan and Long Island, NY

Facial Rejuvenation

Facial rejuvenation is a collection of procedures designed to bring out the features of your younger self. With various surgical options, you can attain results that reverse years of aging, helping you feel happier with your appearance. After all, your face is the first thing you see in the mirror each day and the first part of yourself that you present to others. If your facial features, the quality of your skin, or other elements of your face affect the way you feel about your image, you may wish to consider facial enhancement as a means to accentuate your natural beauty and help you feel your best.

Dr. Gordon Andan is a skilled, board-certified cosmetic surgeon with offices in Manhattan and Long Island. Dr. Carey Nease also specializes in facial enhancement, utilizing careful, meticulous attention to the finer details of the face. Together, they have helped many individuals feel more confident about the way they look through both surgical and nonsurgical facial rejuvenation.

Facelifts

Facelifts are the most common facial surgery for men and women seeking to combat more advanced signs of aging. A facelift can take years off of your appearance by restoring youthful contours to the face, alleviating sagging skin, and, most importantly, making you look like a younger you. With just small incisions behind the hairline and around each ear, your surgeon can tighten the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) layer of connective tissue, resolving significant sagging and deep folds on the surface of the skin. This procedure mostly lifts jowls, creating sharper, slimmer contours of the jawline, but it can also smooth nasolabial folds and help lift the neck area. On average, studies show that facelift results last roughly 12 years, but it may be more or less due to genetics and lifestyle. (1)

Neck Lift

Surgeons can improve sagging skin and tissue in the neck area with a neck lift, which restores a sleeker and more toned neckline and jawline that will not detract from your finer features. For this procedure, your surgeon will access the platysma muscle of the neck from small incisions behind the ears, tightening skin laxity and neck banding that typically becomes more prominent with age. He may make a subtle incision beneath the chin to also access and lift this same muscle. A neck lift will include liposuction to further sculpt away fat deposits, if necessary.

Fat Transfer

Volume loss in the face is a common sign of aging that surgeons can address in a completely natural way using your own fat cells. With a fat transfer, you can enhance facial features and fill in areas of hollowness. For this type of aesthetic improvement, your surgeon will apply liposuction to harvest a relatively small amount of fat, purify it, and re-introduce it to areas such as the face or buttocks. With this all-natural option, you can feel confident that it will look and feel quite natural and soft.

Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a procedure in which your surgeon can help you look younger by removing the excess skin on your eyelids. It may also improve your field of vision if drooping skin obscures your view. In an upper blepharoplasty, your surgeon can reduce excess “hooding” of the upper eyelids with tiny incisions hidden within the crease of the eyelid. To smooth out sagging, unwanted eye bags in a lower blepharoplasty, your surgeon only needs to use a tiny opening just below the lower waterline, or lash line. Depending on the cosmetic changes required, it may be either external or internal. Both types of eyelid surgeries involve removing minute amounts of lax skin and removing or repositioning the tiny fat pads around the eyes. A lower eyelid lift may require tightening of connective tissue called the tarsoligamentous complex. (2)

Brow Lift

A sagging brow can contribute to frown lines and an aged appearance. By raising the forehead skin, a brow lift gives the upper face a more refreshed appearance. With a traditional brow lift, your surgeon can make an incision within the hairline to resolve brow descent and correct tired-looking eyes. The endoscopic approach is less invasive since it requires much smaller scalp incisions and the use of a surgical camera to visualize the tissues for lifting purposes.

Chin Implants

A strong, defined chin can create a more balanced face and a more striking profile. Chin implants offer those lacking distinct definition in the chin and jawline a way to improve their facial contours. Your surgeon will only need to make an incision from inside the mouth or below the chin to insert the body-safe silicone implant. They will only need to use local anesthesia in the area, and the procedure will take approximately 30 minutes to an hour. While the implant can remain within the chin permanently, your surgeon can easily remove it at a later date if you desire to undo the cosmetic changes.

Lip Augmentation

Lip Augmentation

Lip augmentation can be used to fill out lost volume in the lips for aging men and women, or it can simply plump up lips that may be naturally thin or wrinkled. You may be able to get satisfactory results with dermal fillers, or you may want to consider a more permanent option with lip implants.

At New York Surgical Arts, we utilize hyaluronic acid fillers for the lips, made from a variation of the all-natural compound already produced within the skin. As the filler comes in contact with the dermis layer of the skin, the microspheres attract water to the area thousands of times its own volume- the cause of the plumping effect. (3)

For implants, your surgeon will make incisions within the inside of your mouth, hiding any noticeable scarring. If you would like to reverse your results at any point after healing, your surgeon can remove these tiny silicone implants without causing any deformation afterward.

Earlobe Repair

Our surgeons can repair damaged or torn earlobes with this simple procedure that heals the ears and restores them to a natural look. During an earlobe repair procedure, your surgeon will remove excess skin that may have stretched from heavy or large earrings and gauges. You can undergo the procedure in an outpatient setting with just local anesthesia. Your surgeon will take into consideration the natural curvature of your ear as a whole when devising a procedure method.

Otoplasty

No matter whether the ear has a deformity from birth or the result of an injury, an otoplasty, or ear surgery, can help improve the shape, position, and proportions of the ears. This is the procedure method required for those with prominent ears that protrude further from the scalp. Aside from this misalignment, sometimes, prominent ears also have a few structural abnormalities, such as a flattened antihelix (upper area of the ear) and a widened concha (opening). Overall, they also tend to be larger than normally shaped ears. (4) Depending on your unique concerns, your surgeon will remove cartilage and modify existing cartilage with internal, permanent sutures. Any scars will only be subtly visible from behind the ears.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty can help restore the facial balance and appearance of a nose that you desire with a natural look, and, in many cases, it can also help with certain breathing issues. Depending on the results you are looking to attain, your surgeon can resolve a range of aesthetic issues including, but not limited to dorsal humps, bulbous nose tips, downward or upward pointed tips, and asymmetry from injury or genetics. In terms of functionality, your surgeon can correct nasal bridge abnormalities, reduce enlarged turbinate bone within the nasal cavity, and correct deviated septum- a condition in which one nostril/valve is narrower than the other. Fixing these particular problems can alleviate restricted airflow in and out of the nose.

Buccal Fat Pad Removal

Excess buccal fat in the cheeks can create a “chipmunk-like” appearance and is often resistant to the effects of dieting and exercise. Buccal fat pad removal takes out the pad of fat between the facial muscles, providing slimmer facial features. For this procedure, your surgeon will only need to anesthetize the inside of your cheeks and make a tiny incision to gently remove a portion of buccal fat. With the expertise of our board-certified surgeons, they utilize precise methods to preserve the parotid gland (the structure that produces saliva) and the surrounding jaw muscles. The result will leave you with a model-like facial structure and improved symmetry between the cheeks.
